Velora Much the Best in the $200,000 Seeking the Ante
The $300,000 juvenile purchase won her stakes debut by 2¼ lengths as the 3-5 favorite at Saratoga.
Velora was everything the barn had hoped for in the $200,000 Seeking the Ante at Saratoga on September 4. The dark bay Yaupon filly was the 3-5 favorite and won by 2¼ lengths under Jose Ortiz, running six furlongs in 1:10.56 after fractions of 22.41 and 46.13.
Velora was bought for $300,000 at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training. She broke her maiden by 4¾ lengths in August. She races for Winning Move Stable, Sabby Racing, IEE Racing, Sanford H. Robbins and Silverwood Stables, and was bred in New York by Vineyard Racing.
“The idea was to go to the Seeking the Ante, give her a little more experience.”
Linda Rice
Her next start was her first try against open company, in the Grade 1 Frizette at the new Belmont Park on October 3.
