Our Story

A Horsewoman First

Linda grew up in central Wisconsin breaking and starting young horses for her father, trainer Clyde Rice. She galloped horses and worked as an assistant before taking out her own license in 1987, and she has been a fixture on the New York circuit ever since.

The records came later: the first woman to win a training title at a major American meet, then more wins than any woman trainer in history. Away from the track, she has served on the NYTHA board since 2002 and chairs its Scholarship Committee for backstretch families.
