Rosenblum sat alongside trainer\u00a0Linda Rice in a back row of the sales pavilion.\u00a0He is by Pioneerof the Nile, who has been a great\u00a0stallion so far. Rice said of the colt&#8217;s appeal. The mare\u00a0has thrown some nice horses, too. He had a brilliant\u00a0breeze on the racetrack and he had great conformation\u00a0at the barn.Hip 165 is out of Lantern Glow (Mineshaft) and is a\u00a0half-brother to last year&#8217;s GII Remsen S. winner Leave\u00a0the Light On (Horse Greeley). He was consigned by De\u00a0Meric Sales, agent. Nick\u00a0de Meric purchased the\u00a0youngster for $150,000\u00a0at last year&#8217;s Keeneland\u00a0September sale. The\u00a0juvenile worked a quarter\u00a0in :21 2\/5 during last\u00a0week&#8217;s under-tack show.<\/p>\n<p>Rice admitted\u00a0Rosenblum was\u00a0determined to add the\u00a0colt to her all-women\u00a0syndicate.\u00a0Sheila really wanted\u00a0this one, the trainer said. I explained to Sheila,\u00a0because of the stallion he is by this year, he was going\u00a0to be difficult to buy. The mare&#8217;s side of the family has\u00a0been very active, as well. There are a lot of things\u00a0there&#8211;we knew it was going to be difficult to buy him.\u00a0But every time I wanted to stop, Sheila said to keep\u00a0going. AI saw\u00a0the name Balanchine in there, she smiled, referencing\u00a0the G1 Epsom Oaks winner named for the legendary\u00a0ballet choreographer.\u00a0Among the Lady Sheila Stable syndicate&#8217;s notable\u00a0juvenile purchases this spring was a $950,000 colt by\u00a0Broken Vow at OBS March and a $900,000 colt by\u00a0Bernardini at OBS April.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously this colt looks like he might be more of a\u00a0sprinter, Rice said of Monday&#8217;s purchase. Our goal is\u00a0to get horses to run a route of ground as well. We did\u00a0that with the Broken Vow colt and the Bernardini colt,\u00a0so we&#8217;re trying to mix it up a little bit.
